Lessons Learned From Dr. Seuss And Others

So one thing I've been doing recently is trying to find the "voice" that I want to use online.  I've been a little conflicted about it, because there's Bob Hendren, President/CEO of ListingWare, as well as Bob Hendren, mild-mannered geek here in the great metropolis of Villa Rica, GA.  Good points, bad points, etc., ya know?

I've been watching others in blogs, Facebook, Twitter, all of the various outlets.  One recurring theme keeps popping up, best characterized by none other than Dr. Seuss...

"Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind."

Brilliant!  Couldn't be much simpler, huh?  Guys like Brad Feld (venture capitalist I've known for a while) and the team at 37 Signals do it that way, and I've really come to enjoy their voices and what they have to say.

Then yesterday, I endured read skimmed over this massive missive and it still comes down to the same thing: Don't try to be anyone other than who you are.  Don't try to snow folks with a bunch of crap.  Share what you want to share, and whoever finds it interesting...THAT is your audience!
